It’s rare.
It’s full of possibility.
It’s every student’s dream.
In the south, it’s also every grocer’s dream because we become petrified of running out of bread when the air is nippy and stock up on whatever we can get our hands on.
I’m talking about the ever promising SNOW DAY! We all remember that glimmer of hope the night before a potential snow day. The anticipation was palpable and the weather channel was never more interesting.
Snow dances were common in my house and they involved sprinting three laps around our beds, flying down the staircase, throwing open the refrigerator door and yelling “SNOW!” three times into the cold air (repeat three times, yell louder for snow and ice). Your snow dance may not have been as ritualistic, but we were serious snow dancers in our day…and also perhaps we were just a little odd.
If you haven’t seen Lester Laminack’s Snow Day! this is the perfect week to settle in for a snowed-in story time!
Here’s hoping we see some “SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!” tomorrow!
Happy Reading, friends!
