Half Moon Summer
by Elaine Vickers

In Half Moon Summer, seventh graders Drew and Mia discover that, in order to run 13.1 miles, they’ll need more than determination, grit, and a good pair of shoes.

Until his dad’s unexpected diagnosis, Drew wasn’t much of a runner. Mia has nothing better to do. Until she realizes entering Half Moon Bay’s half-marathon could solve her family’s housing problems.

Together, Drew and Mia decide to spend their entire summer training to enter the half-marathon. They both have different reasons for running, but they do have one thing in common: Hope. For the future. For their families. And for each other.
